Calypso

I have stayed at Calypsos' Island for 7 years now, I think and I'm sad to tell Calypso that I must leave. I think I have fallen in love with her or it might just be a spell. I have been through so much that I don't know what's real and what isn't! She helped me construct a boat and I now sail back to Ithaca. Back to my kingdom, back to my home, back to my family.

I rate Calypso's Island another 11/10 Odysseus Oars for the same reasons as Circe's Island and because of Calypso herself.

We have sailed past the island of the Laestrygonians where all of my men were killed except for the men on my ship. Quite saddening indeed. We then set foot on Circe's island where we stayed for a year due to the hospitality and housing! After that, we sailed past the sirens without any losses. But then, we reached Scylla and Charybdis. They destroyed my ship and killed all my men. I wound up on Calypsos' Island

I rate Circe's island 10/10 Odysseus Oars because of the amazing food, housing, and friendly people.

After sailing through the night, we have decided to stop at another one of the mysterious islands that we have visited. We found some wild goats grazing in a field and decided to feast, and feast we did! Then, we crossed over to the mainland and came across a cave filled  with sheep, milk, and cheese! We decided to grab some and feast again in the cave! Man, were our stomachs full!

Suddenly, a one-eyed giant appeared at the mouth of the cave. We automatically assumed that he was the inhabitant and were terrified! However, he turned out to be kind and invited us to eat whatever we wanted! We found out that his name was Polyphemus, son of Poseidon.

Lotus Eaters!

After leaving Ismarus, a storm struck and we were swept away to a strange island! The natives of this island offered us some lotus fruit. I was happy that the natives were being kind to my troops!

Battle at Ismarus

My fleet and I have landed in Ismarus, off the coast of Thrace. We have decided to attack the city and steal some of their treasures! We prepare to strike!

Post-war

After 10 long years, the Trojan War has been won by us Achaeans! We won due to my ingenious plot to create a giant wooden horse and hide troops in it. The plan worked and as they led the trap into the city, we grinned and waited for the moment to strike. When the Trojans were drunk from partying, we snuck out and burned their city to the ground! We now sail home! I can't wait to return home to my beloved wife and child! I wonder how big he is now!

After arriving in Sparta and I have been invited to a meeting as soon as I got off the trimere. When I saw who was present, I immediately realized that this meeting must have been important. It turned out to be about invading Troy. I inquired Agamemnon why he would want to do such a thing. He simple responded,
"For the money and for the gold!"
Judging by this remark, Agamemnon would be considered a greedy and selfish person and I wouldn't be surprised that if we lost, he would go mad.

Our meeting was interrupted when Helen of Sparta walked by and caught Menelaus' eye. Even I thought that Helen was beautiful, but I am married, so I want to stay faithful to my dear wife. The kings cast lots to see who would win Helen's hand in marriage. They put their royal rings into a goblet, and I, being married, had the honor of throwing the rings into the air. To decide who would win Helen, their ring has to be the closest to the goblet.

The person who would now become the husband of the most beautiful woman in all of Greece is...

After visiting the Temple of Athena, the Parthenon, I now realize how important the gods are in this expedition. After gaining the favour of Athena, I now continue my preparation by asking the famous Oracle at Delphi what my fate on this journey is! I will update you on what she says, but first, let me provide some insight into Pythia and the city of Delphi.

The Pythia, or the Oracle at Delphi, is the most famous oracle in our modern day Greece. The Pythia is a priestess in the Temple of Apollo, who was said to be apparently infallible. The name Pythia comes from Python, the dragon that was slain by Apollo. When Python was killed, his spirit possessed the Pythia and from that moment on, she began to prophesize.

Her prophesy for me was:

My expedition around the world has started in Athens. The Parthenon is a temple dedicated to Athena, the patron goddess of Athens, and its construction began in 447 BC and ended in 438 BC. The architecture's style was designed with the Doric Order. The Doric Order is...
